PARTICIPATION RULES AND REGULATIONS:

  1. The Inventions/creative works have not been submitted to any competitions before.
  2. Participants may submit the inventions/creative works as individuals or as teams.
  3. There is no age limit for participants.
  4. Each institution is eligible to participate in more than one individual or group project (not exceeding 3 people for each team).
  5. The organizer reserves the right to accept or reject any applications. The following are entries which are not acceptable:
    1. The inventions or designs are used by another party or they conflict with morals, public order and safety; AND
    2. The inventions/creative works such as scientific principles, abstract theories and menus that may subject to copyright issues.

REGISTRATION

  1. The competition form can be obtained here (Google Docs application).
  2. The closing date for entries is 5th September 2013 (Thursday).
  3. All entries must comply with the following code of ethics :
    1. Participants must maintain integrity
    2. Participants shall not engage in scientific error or fraud, such as falsifying data or notes, piracy or plagiarism, using the work of other researchers. Those inventions/creative works are not eligible to contest.
    3. An invention/creative works may be part of a larger study conducted by professional scientists, however participants can only exhibit the findings of active research only.

*NOTE : The Entry Fees ONLY include programme fees and certificate of attendance. The Fees EXCLUDE accomodation and other needs.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The judges will be appointed by the Organising Committee to evaluate and select the winner based on the following criteria :

  1. Originality and Creativity
  2. Novelty and Inventive
  3. Usefulness
  4. Commercial Potentialities/Marketability
  5. Presentation and Demonstration

THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNER

  1. Only the organising committee reserves the right to decide on the awards and prizes to be given away on the competition day. The committee also reserves the right to proclaim no winner if none of the participation meets the requirements to win.

EXHIBITION AND BOOTH

  1. Each participant will be provided with an exhibition booth (2m x 2m) with a table and two chairs to display and demonstrate their invention/creative works throughout the exhibition. [Click here]
  2. Participants are required to prepare all the necessary items for the purpose of displaying and demonstrating their inventions/creative works. All labels and abstracts must be clearly displayed at each exhibition booth.
  3. Participants are responsible for the cost in preparing the booth.

THE WINNER

  1. The winning model/prototype will be kept by the organising committee for the purpose of future exhibition subjected to the agreement of both, the participant and the organising committee.

ACCOMODATION AND TRANSPORTATION

  1. The transportation to the exhibition is under the participants’ responsibility.
  2. The organising committee also shall not provide accommodation to participants/teachers throughout the exhibition.
  3. However, the organising committee is willing to assist if the participants need help with the accommodation.

DISCLAIMER

  1. The organising committee or its member shall be responsible on managing, transporting or keeping all models and other equipments given by the participants (if required). Nevertheless, the organising committee or its member will not be liable for any loss or damage of the items.

  2. The decision of the Panel of Evaluators shall be final and binding. Participants shall abide the decisions made by the Panel of Evaluators. The participants reserve no right to be paid or indemnified for any losses, expanses or damages, or any matters related to the organisers, the Panel of Evaluators and the results of the competition.

  3. In the case of entries that have not been granted Letters of Patent, Utility Innovation Certificates of Registration of Designs by any competent authority for the granting of such right, any decisions by the Panel of Evaluators and or the organising committee shall have no legal standing nor be used to assist in getting it patented or registered under the law.

  4. Participants shall note that in many countries participation in exhibitions/competitions may constitute “disclosure” under the copyright laws. Participants are advised to take the necessary action to protect their copyright and registration rights. The organising committee shall not be liable for any copyright issues faced by any participants in Edu-InERI2013.
